Danish Counting
The girls stand in a circle.
There should be an odd number of them.
The girls hold hands in pairs,
the one girl who is left is the girl who will start the game.

They all sing this song and as they sing,
the first girl runs to get a partner
by taking her away from her pair
and bringing her back to her place in the circle,
where they then stand holding hands in a new pair.

The girl who is left behind then does the same
and runs to find another new partner
from somewhere else in the circle.
The Leader should try and make sure that all the girls have a
turn at being picked to make a new pair.

The song is

One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten

Eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen,
seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty.

One and twenty, two and twenty, three and four and five
and six and twenty

Twenty seven, twenty eight, twenty nine, and thirty.

One and thirty, two and thirty, three and four and five
and six and thirty

Thirty seven, thirty eight, thirty nine, and forty.

And so on up to 100.

The whole point of the game
is not to be left standing on your own at the end,
as you sing the song you get faster and faster,
so the girls have to be quicker in choosing a partner.
