Our Division Standards is made up of many parts
these are:
A The World Flag - the three leaves symbolising
the three fold Promise - the two stars
representing the Promise and Law - a central
vein, the compass needle pointing the way - the
base shaped like the heraldic "feu" signifying the
flame of the love of mankind - the colours of gold
and blue are for the sun and sky for all the
children of the world.
B The Red Rose - of Lancashire with Manchester
underneath - is our County Badge.
C "Be Prepared" - is the Guiding motto
D Tame Valley Colours - this is the Division we
previously belonged to. Black for our coal
industry, White for the cotton industry. These
used to be the main sources of employment
within the area but not any more.
E The Blue Diamond - with the star and crescent
reminds us of the part of the Coat of Arms of the
old Ashton-under-Lyne Borough.
F The Heatshead Pike - Which forms part of
Ashton Boundary - on a background of green -
this is for the countryside around us.
G The River Tame - another boundary line and
also the emblem of the Tameside Metropolitan
Borough.
H The Standard's Cord - blue and yellow are the
colours of our movement - our Trefoil Badge is at
the top of the pole, it reminds us of our Promise -
Love my God, Serve the Queen and my country,
Help other people and to Keep the law.
